Frank Switzer's parents were Hiram A. and Mary C. (Thomas) Switzer. The father was born April 2, 1842, at North Manchester, Ind., being a son of Abraham and Elizabeth (Harter) Switzer, who came to Wabash county in 1835 from near Chester, Pa., his father being Israel Switzer.

Abraham Switzer was a cabinetmaker and lived near North Manchester, passing away at Warsaw at the age of seventy-six; his wife died in 1851 and he married again, his second wife being Miss Jane Haynes, of North Carolina.
