PETER BENDER, M.D.

Dr. Bender was born 1806 in Pennsylvania, and he married Barbara Brant in 1836, who was born in 1812, and whose great-grandparents came from Germany. Br. B. studied homeopathy and afterward became a regular physician, and he has practiced medicine for more than forty years..

They came West in 1849, locating first in Huntington County, Ind., for three years. In 1852, he removed to Liberty Mills, and in 1858 to Laketon, of which place he has been a resident ever since, following his avocation as a medical practitioner, and also, for a considerable portion for that time, carrying on a drug store.

The worthy couple are both still living. She is quite hale and sprightly, bearing lightly the burden of advancing age. The Doctor is becoming somewhat feeble and decrepit, as might be expected from the number of his years, verging as they do already far toward fourscore. They have been the parents of seven children, five of whom are yet in the land of the living.
