Hire Electric Is Fixture On Main Street

Hire's Electric and Gifts has been on Main Street for 11 years since its opening in the old Ruppel Building in 1962.

Five years later a move was made across the street to the present facility which offers a wide variety of gifts and home entertainment equipment.

Bill and Ruth Hire moved to North Manchester from Waterloo, Indiana in 1954 to operate the Seventh Street Grocery now known as Hiatt's. They stayed with the grocery until 1957 when Bill went into business in Fort Wayne.

They returned to the North Manchester business district in 1962 and have been a Main Street attraction ever since.

Over the years Hire's has expanded and improved the quality of the gift line.

American and imported goods are featured in attractive displays throughout the store.
