Ford Agency Since Turn Of Century

North Manchester has enjoyed the service of a Ford garage ever since Charles Olinger and Jonas Warvel opened their Walnut Street agency around the turn of the century.

Snyder Motors came into existence in March, 1948 when Cliff Snyder purchased the dealership from Charles Minear. Sam Snyder in turn purchased dealership from his father, Cliff, in 1972.

The Ford Motor Company has been represented in North Manchester by Olinger and Warvel, Weber Auto Sales, Ward and Hudson Auto, Pottenger Auto Sales, Russell Kreamer Auto, Minear Ford and Snyder Motors.

When Snyder purchased the business in 1948 it was located at 101-3 West Main which is now a downtown parking lot. Facilities at the location were so cramped that it was necessary to place used cars in downtown parking places.

Snyder purchased the land where the present Ford Garage is located in 1949. It has been filled in considerably since then and served as a used car lot prior to the construction of the new garage.

The present facility was under construction in 1965 and the business moved to the new garage from Main Street in 1966.

The present day Snyder Ford employs six mechanics, a parts man and three salesman.
