DEATH CALLS AGED MOTHER

Mrs. Catharine Reiff died Thursday evening about ten o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sam Sharp on West Fourth street. She had been unconscious about four days and passed away in that condition. The body was taken to the Bender funeral home and Friday afternoon taken to her lifelong home east of town where Oscar Reiff lives. The funeral was held at Fairview Sunday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. C.A. Duncan conducted the service and burial was in the cemetery by the church.

Mrs. Reiff's maiden name was Catharine Barr. She was born in Ohio 86 years ago July 23. She married Jacob Reiff and shortly after their marriage they moved to this locality. For the past 45 years she had lived on the one place east of North Manchester. She was the mother of twelve children, four of whom together with the husband preceded her in death. They are John Reiff, Mrs. Flora Dunbar, Mrs. Cora Reed and one child who died in infancy. The surviving children ware Mrs. Sam Sharp and Henry Reiff of North Manchester, Charles, A.L. and Oscar living east of North Manchester, Mrs. David Derf of Huntington, Mrs. Russell Krieg of Fort Wayne, and Cecil Reiff of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who arrived Saturday for the funeral. There are also a number of grand children and great grand children.

Mrs. Reiff had long been an active and influential member of her community, taking an active part in the affairs of her neighborhood. She was a member of the Christian church.
