Eld. Jacob Funderburgh was born in Clarke county, O., Dec. 21, 1817, died at his home in Laketon, Ind., Nov. 16, 1896, aged 78 years, 10 months and 25 days.
Deceased was married to Christina Ulrich, Feb. 27, 1845, in which year they moved to Huntington county, Ind. To Mr. and Mrs. Funderburgh were born nine children, four of whom are still living. In 1866, the husband and wife moved to Wabash county, locating on their farm near Laketon, where they resided until the time of her death. In his younger days Father Funderburgh was elected to the ministry of the German Baptist church, and was an active and faithful worker. He had charge of the Salamonie congregation in Huntington county, and after location in Wabash county, sustained a like relation to the Manchester church for a number of years. Throughout his long sickness Father Funderburgh was very patient and mindful of others. He was conscious of his surroundings until the last, gave directions relative to his funeral and requested that thanks be extended to the neighbors for the kindness they had shown him in his affliction, and which he felt sure would be continued at his death.
The funeral occurred on Wednesday of last week at the brick church west of this city, conducted by Rev. A.L. Wright.
