John Mills was born April the 7th, 1802, and died March the 26th 1883, aged 80 years, 11 months and 12 days. He came from Monmouth county New Jersey, to Montgomery county Ohio in 1819, and was married to his present bereaved companion April 24th, 1829. Had he lived another month they would have celebrated the 54th anniversary of their marriage. Mr. Mills moved with his family to Wabash county, Indiana, in 1853, in which county he resided for nearly thirty years. He leaves behind him a wife and seven children; five sons and two daughters. During the latter years of father Mills life he was afflicted with a cancer upon his face, that gave him much pain and was the cause of his death. during the whole of the past winter he had been confined to the house and suffered much from this dreaded disease. Through all his sufferings he was cheerful and expressed a willingness to meet death at any time that it was the Lord's will. His funeral was attended by all his living children. Services at the house, Rev. E.D. Smith officiating. Burial at Union cemetery, under the auspices of the Masonic order in regalia.
