Robin D. Lahman (1929-2010)
Robinson Diehl "Robin" Lahman, 81, of North Manchester, died Sunday,
September 19, 2010 at 8:20 p.m. at his home. He was born January 1, 1929 in
Madison, Wisconsin, to Carroll P. and Hazel D. (Robinson) Lahman.
Robin married Jeanette M. Miller in Franklin Grove, Illinois, on June 10, 1951.
He was a 1947 graduate of Albion, Michigan, High School and a 1951 graduate of
the University of Illinois, where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho
Fraternity.
He was a retired farmer and also owned and operated Lahman Feed and Milling in
Franklin Grove, Illinois. He was a member of the North Manchester Church of the
Brethren and Rotary Club. He also did volunteer work with the North Manchester
Historical Society and was a Friend of Manchester College. His passions were his
church, his family, and stewardship of the land. He lived in Franklin Grove
until moving to North Manchester in 1987.
Robin is survived by his wife, Jeanette M. Lahman of North Manchester; four
children, John R. (Deb) Lahman of Peoria, Arizona, and his children Angela
(Brian) Yoder, Andy (Andrea) Lahman, and Aaron Lahman, Mary (David) Sollenberger
of North Manchester, and her children Joshua, Micah, and Christina Sollenberger,
David (Mary) Lahman of North Manchester, and his children Kristen and Kyle
Lahman, and Barbara (Gary Hogle) Lahman, of North Manchester and her children
Shane and Joel Hogle; three great grandchildren, Elena and Dasan Yoder and Grant
Lahman; and sister, Ruth E. Adams of Alhambra, California.
Memorial services will be held at Manchester Church of the Brethren, 1306
Beckley Street, North Manchester, on Sunday, September 26 at 2:00 p.m. with
Pastor Kurt Borgmann officiating. Family and friends will gather after the
service at the church.
Preferred memorial is the Timbercrest Trail Fund.
